The spring issue of strategy-business online includes a short but sweet article reporting the results of a survey conducted to determine bias by managers toward remote employees. Bottom line – base evaluations on performance, not on face time.

    Thanks for picking up this article Jane. Reminding employers to fairly evaluate is an important topic. I do think perception is much affected by the degree to which the manager doing the evaluating is on line themselves. The more computer savvy they are, the less reliant they are on physically seeing the employee to understand they are being productive.
